According to Defenders of Wildlife, there have been devastating effects, not only to the environment, but to wildlife, due to the continuous BP Gulf oil spill. Thus far, there have been 1,866 confirmed dead birds with over 2,896 impacted, 463 confirmed dead sea turtles with over 660 impacted, and 59 confirmed dead marine animals with over 64 impacted! Keep in mind that these are only the number of wildlife that have been recovered (actual numbers of dead and injured wildlife are likely to be much higher). Also, the effects of this massive spill will continue to decimate the environment and wildlife for YEARS to come!
